ACAS – Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service

CA – Court of Appeal

CAC – Central Arbitration Committee

Case management discussions – a hearing to clarify the issues in the case; discuss any orders that should be made; and fix a length for the full hearing

CBI – Confederation of British Industry

COET – Central Office of Employment Tribunals

Compromise Agreement – a legally binding agreement following the termination of employment

COT3 – an agreed compromise settlement in a tribunal case, overseen by ACAS

CPR – Civil Procedure Rules

DDA – Disability Discrimination Act

Pre-hearing review – a hearing to decide whether a claim or response should be struck out; determine questions of entitlement to bring a claim; decide whether a deposit needs to be paid;

PTW Regs 2000 – Part-time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2000

r26 hearing – including the main hearing, these are held for the purpose of determining procedural or substantive issues or disposing of the proceedings

Review hearing – a hearing to consider an application to have a decision, judgement, or decision reviewed

Statment of Particulars – the legal minimum documentation that must be issued to all employees
