2015 NMW Recommendations Followed by 70 Employers Named/Shamed

Following the publication of the National Minimum Wage rates (currently recommendations) for 2015 yesterday, the Government has published its latest list of employers that have failed to pay the NMW.

The Government’s press release also exposed the failures with the current system, reporting that for over £157,000 in arrears only c.£70,000 was charged in penalties.

Jo Swinson, Business Minister, said:

“We are legislating through the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill [the bill has nearly completed its passage through Parliament, and should become an Act soon, leveling the playing field for the vast majority of SMEs that do comply with the legislation – there are always better ways to maximise opportunities, and Employment Law Clinic are available to advise on these – contact us using the form below] so that this penalty can be applied to each underpaid worker rather than per employer.”

If you’re unsure whether your business is compliant with the National Minimum Wage, rather than be named & shamed, a review from Employment Law Clinic will be able to provide the assurance you need – and these will be free to businesses of <20 workers completing the form below before the end of February 2015.
