Minimum Wage To Increase by Up To 4%

The Government have today confirmed that they are accepting the recommendations of the Low Pay Commission: the national minimum wage (NMW) will increase between 1.1 & 4% from 1 October 2011.

The NMW rates from October will be:

 

Category

Increase New Rate – from October 2011
Apprentices* 10p (4%) £2.60 per hour
16-17 year-olds 4p (1.1%) £3.68
18-20 year-olds 6p (1.2%) £4.98
Over 20’s 15p (2.5%) £6.08

 

 

*the apprentice rate applies to apprentices under 19, or in the first year of their apprenticeship
